For the 8th blog post of this week, I decided to make a colorful sunflower. I decided to make this colorful sunflower because I really liked how the sunflower has different colors as seeds and shades of light colors on the petals. I searched up glass paintings to see what would give me inspiration or something that would give me a new idea. The sunflower immediately caught my eye with the way it has those light color shades on the petals. It made me want to try it out myself. I did and to me, it turned out pretty good if I am being honest I feel like this is my favorite one out of all the paintings I did previously. I first sketched it out then I used a toothpick to make the dots on the sunflower using colors like red, orange, green, blue, and even purple. After putting the dots and letting them dry I covered those dots with brown and red. After that, I did strikes of the colors my eyes could see from the reference picture and used light colors like white, light green, pink, and so on. Finally, I covered the petals with yellow and in the end, it turned out better than I expected. It’s not always exact because I do not have the colors used to make the paintings sometimes so I have to mix some colors to get to the color my eyes see. Honestly, I think that is where the creative part comes in because I am mixing to try to get to the color that the reference has. Most glass paintings look good when you paint a cartoon or some animated character because they do not have the same features as realistic paintings do. In the end, this was my colorful sunflower painting.
